Madigan Says Peoples Gas Misled ICC

(Chicago, IL) — Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan says executives of Peoples Gas and its former parent Integrys Energy Group violated state law by misleading utility regulators about the soaring cost of their gas main replacement program. Madigan says that before the companies appeared before the Illinois Commerce Commission last May, they had been told the cost of the massive project had nearly doubled to more than eight-billion-dollars. Madigan says the company lied to the ICC about the rising cost because Integrys was in the process of selling Peoples Gas to a Wisconsin energy company and wanted the ICC’s approval.
