Illinois State Museum Wants To Charge Admission Fee

(Springfield, IL) — In a follow-up to a story we had Monday, visitors could soon be able to return to the Illinois State museum, but it’s no longer going to be free of charge. The museum and its satellite sites have been closed since October because of the budget impasse, but the Department of Natural Resources announced Monday that an agreement with the governor’s office will allow operations to resume if the Legislature grants them the power to charge admission. The agreement also means that satellite museum sites in Chicago and Rend Lake will be closed.
