(MT. VERNON, IL) — A late-night Friday arrest in Mt. Vernon resulted in responding officers suffering minor injuries when a 24-year-old home invasion suspect resisted arrest. MVPD officers conducting a bar check around 11:30 Friday night at Geo’s Lounge on Broadway observed Terrance Williams in the establishment. Officers report they had probable cause to arrest Williams for a home invasion being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Williams reportedly resisted arrest, causing minor injuries to the officers. A loaded gun was reportedly located on Williams, who was taken to the Jefferson County Jail on charges of home invasion, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and resisting arrest causing injury to an officer. Williams remains in jail awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail. In November Williams was sentenced to 30 months probation after he pleaded guilty in Jefferson County Court to felony possession of a firearm by a felon. A petition to revoke that probation was filed a few days later.
