(BENTON, IL) — A Jefferson County man was sentenced on January 26, 2016, to federal prison on cocaine related charges, James L. Porter, Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced Tuesday. Darrain D. Bowdry, 30, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, was sentenced to 151 months in federal prison, with three years’ supervised release following his imprisonment, and fined $400. Bowdry had previously pleaded guilty to two counts in a federal indictment. Count 1 charged that on November 4, 2014, at approximately 2:36 p.m., Bowdry knowingly and intentionally distributed cocaine. Count 2 charged that on November 4, 2014, at approximately 4:05 p.m., Bowdry knowingly and intentionally distributed cocaine. The investigation in this case was conducted by the Joint Narcotics Unit of the Mt. Vernon Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. The case is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney George Norwood.
