Edward A. Dulaney, age 73, longtime Fire Chief of the Waltonville Fire Protection District, passed away Friday, January 29, 2016 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Edward was born September 18, 1942 in Bluford, IL a son of Clarence and Gladys (Kelderhouse) Dulaney. He married Chloe (Isenhart) on December 16, 1966 in Sesser and she survives in Waltonville.

Edward served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Ed Dulaney was one of the founders of the Waltonville Fire Protection District, where he has volunteered and served as chief all 40 years of its existence. Ed worked for the Frontier Phone Company until his retirement. Ed was a member of the Waltonville VFW post 9153. Ed was also a big fan of Spartan Athletics. He graduated from Waltonville High School in 1961.

He is survived by his wife, Chloe Dulaney of Waltonville; daughter Malinda Hart and husband Gary of Mt. Vernon; son, Clayton Dulaney and wife Karina of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Patricia Ann Taylor of Mt. Vernon and Margaret Faye Wallace of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren, Taylor Dulaney of Waltonville, Zachary Hart of Mt. Vernon and Angelina Dulaney of Dallas, Texas; brother-in-law, Jim Dimotroff; and also several nieces and nephews.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Brent Allen Taylor.

Funeral Services for Chief Edward A. Dulaney will be held 11 a.m. Monday February 1, 2016 at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville with Rev. Tim Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville: Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 141. Friends may call on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville. There will be a firefighter walk-through at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
