Union Group Says Rauner Hurts Workers

(Springfield, IL) — The day before his state of the state message, Governor Rauner is being slammed by the state’s largest union group. AFL-CIO president Michael Carrigan says Rauner has failed at one of his most important responsibilities — negotiating a budget that works for everyone. Carrigan and several other unionized workers told a news conference that Rauner’s turnaround agenda would have a negative effect on their lives by pushing down wages and benefits. Rauner delivers his address Wednesday at noon.
