(MT. VERNON, IL) — Police are investigating a reported shooting Monday afternoon near 18th Street and Lamar Avenue in Mt. Vernon. Police received a call around 4 p.m. Monday about a shooting. The victim is a male and was reportedly shot five times; however, his condition has not been released. The victim was reportedly dropped off by a private vehicle at the Good Samaritan Hospital Emergency Room a short time after initial reports came in about shots fired near the 18th Street and Lamar Avenue intersection. Police are currently seeking the vehicle believed to have dropped off the victim at the hospital. It’s described as a GMC Yukon, but no other description was given. Unconfirmed reports noted a black SUV driving recklessly toward the hospital around the same time.
