Another Social Service Group Details Painful Cuts

(Springfield, IL) — The damage from Illinois’ budget stalemate is being felt by the state’s social service agencies. The Illinois Area Agencies on Aging are the latest to detail their pain. The group that helps local volunteers care for elderly folks, says they’ve turned away 145-thousand people in the seven months that Illinois hasn’t had a budget. The group says they’re looking at a five-million dollar loss from the state.
