(MT. VERNON, IL) — A 46-year-old Mt. Vernon man was sentenced Friday in Jefferson County Court to 7-years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after he pleaded guilty to manufacturing methamphetamine in a Mt. Vernon apartment. Kevin P. Henry was initially charged with Class X felony manufacture of between 100 and 400 grams of meth, which was amended to Class X aggravated manufacture of less than 15 grams of meth in an apartment or multi-unit dwelling. Henry was also charged with Class 2 felony possession of less than 15 grams of meth precursors, which was dismissed in exchange for his guilty plea to the amended Class X charge. According to court records, Henry was formally indicted on the original charges September 11, 2015, with the bill of indictment filed in Jefferson County Court September 28. Henry was arrested October 13, and has remained in the Jefferson County Jail since his arrest. He was given credit for 28 days served since his October 13 arrest. The evidence against him showed that on Sept. 3 the Henry participated in the manufacture of more than 100 grams but not more than 400 grams of a substance containing meth. He was sentenced in 2005 to 3-years in the IDOC after he was convicted in Jefferson County of Class 2 felony possession of less than 15 grams of chemicals used in the manufacture of meth. In 2002 he was sentenced in Franklin County to 3 years IDOC, also for Class 2 possession of meth manufacturing chemicals.
