(BENTON, IL) — A Christopher man accused of threatening to shoot a man at a home in Coello after he had been in a fight with him earlier appeared for his preliminary hearing in Franklin County Court this week. According to court records, 31-year-old Matthew Greathouse was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm while FOID card was previously revoked, battery and driving while license suspended/revoked. The Franklin County Sheriff’s office says after Greathouse went to the home uninvited and made his threat on Jan. 7, he left the scene before deputies arrived. Greathouse was stopped by Christopher Police and held until deputies arrived. A .12 gauge shotgun was also recovered. Greathouse also has children with the woman who lived at the home. During his hearing, Greathouse waived his right to have the charges against him read in court and pled not guilty on the charges. He will be back in court on Feb. 24 for a pre-trial conference, on April 28 for a final pre-trial and his jury trial is set for May 3.
