(Edwardsville, IL) — A Metro East woman is going to prison for a decade for operating a heroin ring. Chelsea Schollmeier was sentenced yesterday in Edwardsville. The Alton woman pleaded guilty last fall to one count of unlawful possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance within one thousand feet of public housing. Schollmeier was arrested with co-defendant Kenneth Rice after they were accused of selling heroin out of their South Roxana apartment. Four others who worked for the pair have been charged and sentenced. Rice is awaiting trial as he sits in Madison County Jail on 250 thousand dollars bail.
