Gliniewicz Lawsuit Goes To Court

(Fox Lake, IL) — A lawsuit against a former Fox Lake police lieutenant is being heard for the first time today. A man named Vernon Randolph claims he was targeted and harassed by Lieutenant Joe Gliniewicz because he’s African-American. Randolph says he was pulled over by Gliniewicz a year before the lieutenant’s death in a Fox Lake subdivision and demanded to know where Randolph was hiding drugs. Randolph also claims he had been harassed while waiting with his daughter at a school bus stop and at gas stations around Fox Lake. Randolph’s attorneys say he has been hospitalized for anxiety after harassment by police officers, and the lawsuit names the village of Fox Lake as well as Gliniewicz.
