(MT. VERNON, IL) — Mt. Vernon police are investigating another armed robbery of a convenience store in town. According to reports, at approximately 9:30 p.m. Saturday, two black males robbed the Jumpin’ Jimmy’s at 32nd and Broadway in Mt. Vernon. The suspects were reportedly armed with 45-caliber handguns. One suspect is described as wearing black jeans, and a black hoodie with a black scarf over his face, while the other was also wearing black, but had on a tan coat. They were reportedly carrying a gray duffle bag and one suspect is described as wearing “old style” Converse sneakers. It is unknown at this time the direction the men took as they fled the store with the cash drawer and the safe. No injuries were reported. Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspects should contact the Mt. Vernon Police Department or the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, who are investigating the robbery.
