ISP Identify Suspect In Hurst Shooting

(HURST, IL) — Illinois State Police say the suspect who was shot in an officer-involved shooting and pronounced dead in Hurst Thursday has been identified as 41-year-old Willie C. Holderfield of DeSoto. Around 3:15 Thursday afternoon, ISP agents were searching for Holderfield, who was wanted on a felony warrant for the robbery of Family Drug in Carterville last month, when they found him in a home located at 111 Seba Street. Holderfield displayed a handgun and the agents fired their guns striking Holderfield. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. This incident is under investigation by the ISP Division of Internal Investigations. Once it is finished, it will be forwarded to Williamson County State’s Attorney Brandon Zanotti for prosecutorial review. No further comment or information will be released from either the Williamson County State’s Attorney’s Office or Illinois State Police at this time.
