Senate Reconvenes Amid Budget Confusio

(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois Senate is back in session, but it’s not clear if the budget impasse that’s left the General Assembly bitterly divided and Governor Rauner fuming is any closer to a solution than when they left. The House won’t reconvene for another two weeks, and even when it does, their focus will be divided since the March primaries are just weeks away. Governor Rauner will deliver his State of the State address January 27th, and it’s possible he’ll have neither a budget passed for last year, nor a firm plan for the next fiscal year.
