(MT. VERNON, IL) — Changnon Gym saw another historic evening Tuesday as Doug Creel became Mt. Vernon Rams all time winningest boys basketball coach with the team’s 53-51 victory over the Effingham Flaming Hearts. Malcolm Ruff made a pair of free throws with 1.1 seconds left to break the tie and give Coach Creel the win in his 3rd attempt to break the tie he had with Howard Ross for the school’s all time lead. Creel is now 272-143 all time. The Rams are 9-5 on the season.
