(CARLYLE, IL) — A 21-year-old Aviston man was sentenced Tuesday in Clinton County Court to 46 days in jail and 2-years probation after he entered into an agreement with the state on a 2014 case charging him with forcible sexual assault and battery. Jacob Kriegel pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge of battery making physical contact, in exchange for three counts Class 1 felony criminal sexual assault through force being dismissed. Additionally, a petition to revoke his probation in an earlier misdemeanor conviction for battery was also dismissed. Kriegel was accused in 2014 of three forcible sex acts, along with 18-year-old Zackary Schilling, of Centralia, against a female victim while in a vehicle in rural Clinton County. The female was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese for treatment of injuries and the alleged incident was then reported to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department. Schilling is still facing three Class 1 felony counts of criminal sexual assault by force and is scheduled for a January 19 jury trial.
