(SANDOVAL, IL) — Details are slowly being released about a Wednesday night robbery of the Casey’s General Store at 204 E. Missouri Avenue in Sandoval. According to reports, a subject entered the store around 9:17 p.m. Wednesday, indicated a weapon, and fled eastbound on foot from the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police Chief Joe Lyons says the suspect is described as a black male, between 5-feet 8-inches and 5-feet 9-inches tall, weighing between 130 and 140 pounds. He was wearing a black Nike hoodie, digital camouflage pants and possibly a flat-billed cap under the hood. Sandoval police were assisted in the search for the suspect Wednesday night by the Marion County K-9 unit and officers from the Odin and Junction City police departments. Lyons says the police dog followed the suspect’s scent east from the store, but lost it behind the Methodist Church where the suspect may have gotten into a car. No injuries were reported in the incident.
