(WEST CITY, IL) — The police chief in West City says last year the village saw an increase in retail theft, criminal arrests and traffic crashes and a decrease in burglaries and theft. Scott Choisser told the West City Village Board that news during his annual report at Monday night’s Village Board meeting. Choisser added that business owners have complemented the department for checking on their businesses after hours. During the meeting, the board approved the chief request to buy a computer for the dispatch center at a cost not exceeded $2,500. The board also approved the sale of a 2011 Caprice to a Perry County law enforcement agency for $15,000. It also approved ordinances for salaries for the police chief, officers and dispatchers, but did not disclose that information at the meeting.
