Rauner Returns Fire In Rhetorical Battle With Emanuel

(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner is amping up the war of words between himself and Mayor Emanuel, saying today that Emanuel has failed the city and accusing him of being afraid of a federal investigation of the city law department. Rauner told radio station WIND today that Emanuel was tone-deaf and out-of-touch by trying to wave off a federal investigation of his law department, even though a high-ranking attorney was found to have withheld evidence in a police shooting case. Rauner also said Emanuel is afraid to cross Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan and push for the government reforms Rauner wants.
