Without Reminders, Fewer Illinoisans Renewing Vehicle Stickers

(Springfield, IL) — Apparently, Illinois vehicle owners needed those license renewal reminders. The Secretary of State’s office stopped sending out license plate renewal forms and reminders last fall as a way to save money during the budget crunch, and the office reports fewer renewals were recorded in November and December. November renewals were down 19 percent compared with November 2014, and renewals in December look to be off about 36-percent. Late renewals carry a 20-dollar penalty on top of the one-hundred-one-dollar fee.
