Rauner Would Sign Mayoral Recall Bill

(Oak Brook, IL) — Governor Rauner Monday said he would sign legislation allowing voters to recall the mayor of Chicago. But he says such a law wouldn’t apply to current Mayor Rahm Emanuel. Rauner says he supports recall provisions for all elected officials in the state, though he says he hasn’t studied the measure proposed by west side legislator LaShawn Ford. Rauner says any such bill would only apply to future officeholders, not those currently in office. Current state law only allows for the recall of a governor.
