(MT. VERNON, IL) — Jefferson County State’s Attorney Doug Hoffman has announced multiple people have recently been sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections after they pleaded guilty to various criminal offenses. An 18-year-old Mt. Vernon man was sentenced to 6-years in prison, after he pleaded guilty to Class 1 felony residential burglary. Deontray Young was recommended for placement in IDOC’s Impact Incarceration Program after he pleaded guilty to entering a residence in Mt. Vernon where he stole various items. A 22-year-old Mt. Vernon man pleaded guilty to Class 2 felony burglary and was sentenced to 5-years in prison. Anthony Finney was also recommended for Impact Incarceration for stealing several tools from a shed in Woodlawn. A 20-year-old Wamac man was sentenced to 5 ½-years in prison for Class 1 felony unlawful participation in methamphetamine production. Matthew Woods pleaded guilty to producing meth near the Red Carpet Inn in Dix on August 18, with co-defendant Thomas Whipple, who was previously sentenced to prison for the incident. Vincent Davis, 36, of Mt. Vernon pleaded guilty to Class 2 felony unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, and was sentenced to 4-years in prison. On September 8, 2010, Davis sold crack cocaine to a confidential source working with the Mt. Vernon/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Joint Narcotics Division. A 35-year-old Ina man was sentenced to 2-years in prison after he pleaded guilty to Class 2 felony intimidation. On November 4, 2015, Charles Banes made threats to a Village of Ina police officer while Ganes was being investigated for a disturbance in Ina.
