Hershell “Junior” Tate 71, passed away 7:03 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2015 at his son’s home in Mt. Vernon.

Hershell was born the son of Hershell Benjamin Tate and Lucille (Wilson) Tate on March 10, 1944. Retired from Continental Tire in Mt. Vernon. He also owned and operated Steam Pro Carpet Cleaning in Mt. Vernon for many years. Hershell served his country in the United Sates Navy.

Mr. Tate is survived by his children, Michael Hershell Tate, William Robert Tate and wife Patty, and Melissa Felice and husband Brian; step-children, Carla and husband Bob Davis; wife, Glenda Tate; six grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Tate and wife Carolyn; and also six sisters, Hershella, Ramona, Linda, Virginia, Teresa and husband Dave Morris and Nancy.
