(BENTON, IL) — A Royalton man is facing drug and misdemeanor charges. State’s Attorney Evan Owens says 44-year-old Codie Eugene Vickers was charged Wednesday with four felony offenses and four misdemeanor offenses. The felony offenses are unlawful possession of a controlled substance – a Class 1 felony, two counts of aggravated battery of a police officer – a Class 2 felony and unlawful possession of a controlled substance – a Class 4 felony. The misdemeanor charges include escape, two counts of resisting a peace officer and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Owens says the controlled substance charges allege that Vickers possessed more than 100 grams but less than 400 grams of cocaine – a Schedule One controlled substance and less than 15 grams of Phentermine – a Schedule Four controlled substance. The offenses allegedly happened Monday. Owens added that the Royalton Police Department is investigating the case. Vickers is lodged in the Franklin County Jail on $250,000 bond.
