Aquatic Zoo Water Park Receives State Recognition

(MT. VERNON, IL) — The Mt. Vernon Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce that the Aquatic Zoo Water Park will be the recipient of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) Outstanding Facility and Park Award for New Aquatics Facility. IPRA is a highly recognized state association for park and recreation professionals. This is an annual award and recognizes communities with outstanding and unique design in aquatic construction. The award winners will be highlighted at the IPRA/IAPD State Conference held in Chicago on January 29th. George Bryant, Parks and Public Facilities Director stated, “During the planning and conceptual design process it was very important that the facility needed to stand out and grab the attention of local residents as well as those traveling in the area. The safari theming throughout the facility along with the interactive sound and play features are unique to Mt. Vernon’s water park.
