(MT. VERNON, IL) — An 18-year-old Mt. Vernon man was arrested Christmas Eve in connection with an armed robbery the night before. Harley D. Pulley was arrested as the result of a joint investigation between the Mt. Vernon and Salem police departments into the December 23 armed robbery of the Casey’s General Store at 617 Salem Rd. in Mt. Vernon. Less than 24 hours after the Mt. Vernon robbery, the Casey’s General Store in Salem was also robbed at gunpoint on Christmas Eve morning. The investigation continues into the involvement of the second offender and possible involvement with previous robberies in Mt. Vernon. Pulley is currently incarcerated in the Jefferson County Jail with bond to be set. Pulley was arrested and charged in September with a September burglary to a Mt. Vernon home. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced in October to 36 months probation, along with 90-days in jail. He was arrested December 16 on a charge of violating bail bond, but was ultimately released from jail.
