Leslie “Nell” Danell Thackrey, age 55 of Mt. Vernon died 10:22 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. A celebration of life will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon; with Rev. Philip Poe officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 p.m. until service time. Interment will be held at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
