(MT. VERNON, IL) — One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash on I-64 in Jefferson County Tuesday afternoon. Illinois State Police say around 1:20, a car, driven by October S. Marchal of Christopher and an SUV, driven by Brett H. Hamilin of Knoxville, TN, were both going west on I-64 at milepost 72. Marchal said her car was overheating and attempted to pull over to the shoulder. Hamilin said he was behind a semi going west at milepost 72 when the semi abruptly made a lane change to avoid striking Marchal’s car, who was sitting in the left lane. Hamilin said he was unable to prevent striking Marchal’s car. Marchal was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Hamilin was charged with driving in the wrong lane.
