(MT. VERNON, IL) — The Mt. Vernon City Council met Monday evening. The Council heard from the City Attorney on a second reading of a tax levy ordinance authorization request, which was approved. The Council also approved ordinances regarding tax increment redevelopment agreements with Wes Rogers Tire & Auto for purchase of a building that the business is currently leasing and additional renovations including the addition of two new maintenance bays, with Mark & Janet Hassakis for facade, painting, and awning improvements on a building located at 206 S. 9th Street, and with Borowiak’s IGA for expansion to including 19,000 square feet for lawn and garden retail space, an interior redesign, and an addition of 5,000 square feet for Ace Hardware.
