BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Members of the public have been stepping up with donations after a few hundred dollars’ worth of Christmas toys were stolen from a ministry in southwestern Illinois. The break-in happened this past week at Law & Grace Ministries, which operates through the Faith Baptist Church in Belleville. Belleville police detective Sgt. Mark Heffernan says missing items include several dolls, board games and other toys. Margret Shankle is the pantry coordinator at Law & Grace. She tells the Belleville News-Democrat that that they’ve been getting many donations of toys and games since the burglary. She called it a “nice response from the public.” The ministry planned to give the gifts to families in need.
