Thelma Louise Hays, 95, of Dix, passed away at 3:46 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2015, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
She was born June 8, 1920, in Bonnie, Illinois, the daughter of Earl and Myrtle (Sights) Hays. She lived and worked in Texas for most of her adult life, working as a secretary for the King Ranch in Kingsville, Texas.
Ms. Hays graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School in 1937, and was a member of the “Kids of the Thirties” society. She was active in the Jefferson County Historical Society, and was a member of Central Christian Church.
She is survived by many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Virginia Shultz.
