(ST. ELMO, IL) — Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in the search and apprehension Wednesday night of three individuals in Fayette County who first led state troopers on a high-speed chase that led to a foot pursuit and then a search effort. The individuals arrested were 33-year old Shawn D. Adamson and 26 year old Corey J. Mitchell, both of Mattoon, and 27 year old Christine L. Koehler. After a state trooper attempted to stop their vehicle on Interstate 70 at the 67 mile marker, the three first fled from the trooper, going east on the Interstate and then exiting off the interstate at the St. Elmo exit before heading south. Reports show the subjects then fled their vehicle on foot, but were eventually apprehended. A roadblock was set up in the area while searching for the individuals. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police, Conservation Police, and the St. Elmo, Farina and Altamont Police departments were all involved in the search for the three arrested.
