(BENTON, IL) — A Royalton man arrested recently for aggravated criminal sexual abuse is now facing more charges in Franklin County. Fifty-four-year-old Jon Brookmyer appeared for his preliminary hearing Wednesday in Franklin County Court. Court records show he pled not guilty to the charges, waived his right to the preliminary hearing and was arraigned on his charges. The Franklin County State’s Attorney’s office Wednesday filed additional charges and amended charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, indecent solicitation of a child and grooming. Officials say that in early November, Brookmyer allegedly committed a sexual act with a female minor over 13 but under 17 years of age. They say he used Facebook to solicit and entice the girl and engaged in sexual conversations with her through the social media site. Brookmyer is set to appear again in Franklin County Court for a pre-trial conference on Jan. 27 at 1:30 p.m. His final pre-trial time and date is set for Feb. 25 at 9:30 a.m. His trial is slated to begin March 8 at 9:30 a.m.
