ICC Slows Down Peoples Pipe Repair Program

(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois Commerce Commission is calling a halt to the controversial gas main replacement program of Peoples Gas, but that doesn’t mean the work will stop immediately. What the ICC rejected is the company’s plan to replace 250-miles of mains over three years at a cost of 800-million-dollars. Replacement work will continue as the ICC works with the company on revamping the larger plan to replace two-thousand-miles of pipeline after the company’s efforts ran into massive cost overruns.
