(Benton, IL) — There is a new U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois for the time being. “The Belleville News-Democrat” reports longtime top assistant Jim Porter was appointed acting U.S. Attorney after Steve Wigginton left for a job in the private sector earlier this month. The Department of Justice is searching for a permanent replacement.
