(VALIER, IL) — A 75-year-old Valier man died in a one-vehicle crash Monday in Valier. Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler says the man was driving his vehicle south on Jefferson Street just north of Izaac Walton Road, when it left the roadway, went up an embankment through an electric fence in a cow pasture and struck a tree. Leffler says the man, whose name is expected to be released later today, was pronounced dead by the coroner’s office at 10:35 a.m. Leffler added that it appears the driver of the vehicle possibly had some type of medical issue to happen causing the accident to happen. An autopsy is set for this afternoon. The crash remains under investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. Leffler says this is the 18th motor vehicle fatality in Franklin County this year.
