Cops: 5 students suspected in Illinois high school break-in

MONTICELLO, Ill. (AP) — Police say five students are suspected of stealing keys from a teacher, then breaking into their high school and taking computers, an iPad and gas cards. The (Champaign) News-Gazette reports the break-in occurred last weekend at Monticello High, in central Illinois. Monticello Police Chief John Carter says the five students got into the school sometime late on Dec. 5 or early on Dec. 6. Police say the students took the gas cards from a district driver’s education vehicle. The cards were then used to fill up personal vehicles. Carter says the five students have been questioned and some items have been recovered. Police are forwarding the case to the Piatt County state’s attorney and to the juvenile probation department.
