(Macedonia) — An autopsy is set for today on the body of a Marion man who died in a fatal accident at the M-Class Mine in Macedonia Tuesday.

Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler says 20-year-old Tyler D. Rath was pulled out of the mine around 11:30 p.m. and was pronounced dead. Rath’s body was taken to the morgue at Franklin Hospital where X-rays were ordered and an autopsy was scheduled.

Leffler says he was notified around 9 p.m. about the accident. The coroner’s office responded to the scene where officials from Mine Safety and Health Administration and Illinois Department of Mines and Minerals investigators brief the county’s deputy coroner about the situation.

Leffler says details about the accident are being handled by MSHA and the Illinois Department of Mines and Minerals.

Rath leaves behind a wife, a 2-year-old daughter, and six day old son, along with many other relatives.
