(Washington Park, IL) — A strip club with a checkered legal history has gone up in flames. Firefighters from six departments were called to The Main Street Club in Washington Park about 4:30 Friday morning, but the fire was still burning 90 minutes later and firefighters say the building appears to be a total loss. The strip club was closed in the 1990s when the feds seized it as part of the illegal gambling investigation of racketeer Thomas Venezia. Since then it’s been a library, a community center, and a jobs center before a former village trustee sold it to its current owners who reopened it as a strip club.
