(Belleville, IL) — We’re learning more about the apparent conflict of interest that forced Metro East Sanitary District Board President Andy Economy to resign. The “News-Democrat” reports that despite his denials, Economy voted to approve payments to his own body shop for repairs done to levee district vehicles. Records also indicate that Economy himself prepared the cost estimates for the labor and repairs to the district’s cars, work that brought his shop about 54-thousand-dollars over a five-year period. Prosecutors haven’t determined if any laws were broken.
