(MT. VERNON, IL) — Mt. Vernon Police Department arrested a local man on Monday after authorities witnessed the subject repeatedly entering the roadway on 10th Street after authorities had instructed him to vacate the roadway. Authorities arrested 22 year old Jarrod Robinson of Mt. Vernon initially for obstructing a police officer. It was reported that Robinson eluded police after being informed that he was under arrest. A pursuit followed and when contact was re-established, reports indicate that Robinson assaulted an officer and continued to demonstrate aggression during his apprehension. Robinson was charged with aggravated battery to an officer and criminal damage to state supported property. During the arrest, Robinson was also charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after a search of his person resulted in the discovery of these items. Robinson is currently incarcerated at the Jefferson County Detention Center with bond to be set.
