(ENERGY, IL) — Energy Police made three arrests over the weekend after illegal drugs were found in vehicles during two separate traffic stops. Police Chief Shawn Ladd says just before 11 Saturday night, the police department’s drug interdiction and K-9 teams made a traffic stop on a vehicle for multiple violations. When they approached the driver and his passengers, they noticed a strong smell of suspected cannabis. Following an investigation, police seized more than 80 grams of cannabis, varying amounts of cocaine and controlled substances such as Xanax, nearly $1,800 in cash and various items of drug paraphernalia. Police arrested and charged 23-year-old Darien J. Williams-Wright of Marion with possession of a controlled substance, manufacture/delivery of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Williamson County Jail. Then around 6:45 Sunday morning, members of the same interdiction unit stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and discovered during their investigation suspected methamphetamine and hypodermic syringes associated with meth use. Police arrested and charged 26-year-old Kiristien Joyner and 24-year-old Leeanna Treece, both of Carbondale, with possession of meth and possession of hypodermic syringes. Both were lodged in the Williamson County Jail.
