Firewood Transport Quarantine Up In Smoke

(Springfield, IL) — Just in time for firewood season, the state has lifted the quarantine on transporting wood across county lines that was put in place to stem the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer. The invasive pest has now spread to at least 60 of the state’s 102 counties, making the quarantine ineffective. The end of the quarantine is good news to firewood dealers though, since it comes at a time when many homeowners are stocking up for the winter. It’s still illegal to bring firewood into Illinois from other states except for state licensed commercial dealers.
