(CARLYLE, IL) — A 23-year-old Beckemeyer man was sentenced Thursday in Clinton County Court to 3-years in prison, after he pleaded guilty to residential arson. Justin A. Pitt was arrested in October by Clinton County Sheriff’s deputies, after they received a complaint from a Beckemeyer home owner that Pitt had set a gas can ablaze and left it on the side of their house. Pitt has been held in the Clinton County Jail since his arrest, with a motion denied last week to reduce his bail from $20,000. In exchange for his guilty plea to the Class 2 felony, Pitt was sentenced to 3-years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, ordered to serve 2-years mandatory supervised release following the completion of his prison sentence, and was ordered to pay fines and court costs. Pitt will be eligible for day-for-day credit served. He will have to pay $937 in fines and fees upon his release from prison.
