ICC To Probe Pipeline Replacement

(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois Commerce Commission has voted to investigate whether Peoples Gas lied to it in its appeal for approval of a multi-billion-dollar merger with a Wisconsin company. The ICC will look into whether company officials lied about the true cost of its pipeline replacement program. After the merger was approved, the company that bought Peoples Gas admitted the cost of the program had jumped from two-point-six-billion-dollars to more than eight-billion dollars, a cost that will be passed on to customers.
