Brenda Sue Bernard, 61, of Belle Rive, IL, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday morning November 12, 2015.
She was born July 21, 1954, to Donald Lee and Joyce (Fluke) Campbell at Sampson Air Force Base, Seneca Co., N.Y. She was raised in Carmi, IL and graduated from Carmi Township High School in 1972. She attended Belmont College where she met her husband.
She became a born again Christian at the age of 8, and joined the First Baptist Church in Carmi, IL. Brenda is a member of Logan Street Baptist Church and loved her church family.
She married the love of her life, Gilroy Murrel, son of Willard Murrel and Lola Laverne (Adams), on May 26, 1974.
Their family includes their 3 children, Christopher Lee and wife Audrey (Murphy) of Mt. Vernon, Curtis Michael and wife Sara (Green) of Columbia, IL, Brooke Nicole and husband Omid Yamini of Nashville, TN, and 3 grandchildren that were the light of her life: Caitlyn Joy, Addison Lynn, and Lucy Marie.
She was a Pampered Chef consultant for 21 years.
Memorials may be made out to Logan Street Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Donald & Joyce (Fluke) Campbell of Carmi, IL.
She is survived by 3 sisters and their husbands, Deborah and William Price, Owensboro, KY , Diana and Gene Jordan, Carmi, IL, and Donna and Kirk Knight., Mt. Juliet, TN, One brother, David and wife Sharon Campbell, Carmi, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 14th at the Logan Street Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Trotter officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Cemetery in Belle Rive. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the Logan Street Baptist Church.
