(SALEM, IL) — A 30-year-old Kinmundy man was sentenced Tuesday in Marion County Court to 8-years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, after he pleaded guilty to violating the sex offender registry. Steven Dane pleaded guilty to a subsequent offense of the registry for failing to report a change of address or employer – a Class 2 felony. He was charged earlier this year with felony residence violation – a Class 4 violation, but the state elected to not pursue that case. Dane was first sentenced in 2005 to 18 months in prison for his first violation of the registry and was then sentenced two other times for registry violations, receiving 5-year prison sentences each time. Dane’s initial conviction for a sex crime was in Clay County, but was apparently committed when he was a juvenile, so case details are sealed and not open to the public.
