Old Dominion claims the Number One spot on the Billboard Country Airplay chart this week with their gold-selling debut hit, “Break Up With Him.” Group member Trevor Rosen said, “It’s gonna take a while for this one to set in. We’ve been lucky enough to have other #1 songs as the songwriter for other artists, but to have one as an artist ourselves is something we’ve dreamt about since we were kids. And today it has just come true.”
The chart-topping hit sets up this week’s release of Old Dominion’s debut album nicely. The project, called Meat And Candy, arrives in stores on Friday (November 6th). Lead singer Matthew Ramsey tells us the pressure is off just a bit thanks to “Break Up With Him.” “That helps! (laughs) Yeah, that definitely helps and the way it’s doing right now is unreal, so, yeah, I think that’s gonna help us along a little bit, and I think that song, ‘Break Up With Him,’ is a good little introduction because the whole album is so much more than that, too, so, but I think it belongs there, too, so it’s a great little open door to the rest of the album.”
Did you see their performance on the CMAs on Wednesday? They’re headed back on the road for the release of Meat and Candy.
