(East St. Louis, IL) — After a meeting that lasted into the late hours last night, there’s still no agreement to end the strike by teachers in East St. Louis that’s now four weeks old. The district says the union rejected its latest offer, even though the pay package was increased by a million-dollars. Union spokesmen say the district is insisting on a plan that would nearly double the time it takes a teacher to reach the highest pay level.
